John recommended Atlas Shrugged to me last week and I bought the Audible version to listen to while I work. While I found the writing superb and the story-line thought-provoking, I quit listening to it 6 hours into the 50+ hours program. I felt like I knew where the book was headed and, as a novel, was more about entertainment than communicating me the ideas succinctly. I don’t have time for it right now. I am focusing on content that is helping me as an entrepreneur right now and decided against this one. Maybe down the road.

Yeah, it won’t help you as an entrepreneur right now, except maybe to understand why you do what you do and why others do what they do.

Also, I can totally understand not having time for it right now.

I’m actually reading it for the second time right now. I think it’s the first book I’ve ever read over again because it was soooo good.

Really the reason I recommended it is because of the current state of the economy and the bailout and the way politicians are behaving. They’re not doing the bailouts with the good of the public in mind, they’re doing it because they’re worried about not getting re-elected next time because they “let down” thousands of their constituents in letting companies go bankrupt.

John, I hear you. I wish more people would read this book to understand how hypocritical the social good can be. I made this post to get someone to tell me I was making a mistake putting this off until I have more time. Hearing your feedback confirms that I’ll have to enjoy this one later.
